This could be the marine way of executing pirates with Devil Fruit powers. Have them chained to a weight with sea stone cuffs, put the weight on a plate that is connected to tracks, push the plate down the tracks to the side of the ship where at the end the plate raises on a hinge and dumps the pirate into the water.
